Shiny Pillow Fort

My toes carried me straight from the quiet patio into the living room, heading for the big comfy sofa! Right in the corner, a plush velvet cushion had slipped halfway down against a shiny silk quilt, leaving a hollow, shadowy nook. Gasp! I wriggled right through the fluffy opening on my tummy! Tucked against the seams was a smooth, round mother-of-pearl button. The bedside lamp's amber beam slid across its iridescent shell, flashing pink and pale blue ripples over the quilted fabric. I pressed my warm chin against the silky fold, resting my hand right on the slick button, and let out a sleepy, happy giggle!
