A Small Grip
A soft click echoed in my ears. I paused, feeling the solid studs under my shoes. With a gentle tug, I lifted my left hand and tested my grip on the small dark phone. It tilted smoothly in my fingers, catching a faint reflection of the room. Looking behind me, the little striped couch was waiting, calm and steady. I relaxed my arm and stayed right here, ready for whatever comes next.
