Calculated Strides
I slipped beneath the ground-floor exit flap and descended the concrete ramp into the courtyard I surveyed yesterday. A sequence of five square granite pavers stretched across the lawn. I utilized the stones for footwork conditioning. Moving with deliberate cadence, I executed disciplined bounds from the center of one cold block to the next, keeping my center of gravity low. On the fourth block, damp green moss yielded beneath my boot, threatening my footing. I shifted my weight instantly to counter the slide, planting firmly onto the final stone. Balance maintained.
