A Soft Marble Roll
A tiny click near the chair leg caught my ear, breaking the afternoon stillness. Padded over to investigate, I discovered a clear glass marble resting tilted against the dark baseboard, trapped by a stray curl of dry dust. I paused, letting the calm surround me before leaning forward. Placing both my rounded paws gently behind its glassy curve, I gave it a soft, steady push. It rolled across the smooth wooden floorboards with the quietest hum, gliding cleanly into a sunlit corner where it stopped, peaceful and bright.
