First Step on the Folds
My joints clicked faintly as a spark ran straight down to my feet. I flexed my open glove, rolled my shoulders, and felt the stiffness vanish in an instant. Looking down, I took a crisp test step. The rumpled white cloth below sank softly under my sole, bunching into fresh little ridges. I tapped the nearest fold with the tip of my shoe, testing the traction. Moving freely feels effortless and ready. I settled into a solid, upright stance, ready for whatever opens up next.
