A Matter of Wick and Wax - FireHawk Ascendant - part 18
The scent of honey and warm paraffin drew me to the back corner of the kitchen counter. A stout beeswax pillar candle sat unlit in a shallow stoneware dish, its charred wick bent sideways against a pool of hardened wax. I stepped over the edge of the dish, planting my boots into the solid, waxy rim. With both hands, I caught the stiffened black wick and hauled it upright with steady force. It yielded, straightening perpendicular to the core. A stray splinter of kindling lay near the base; I angled it cleanly beside the wick for the next strike. The station is prepped for fire. #Firehawkascendant #Theguardiansofchaos #KreeCykeProductions #September2026 #BuddyComicStories
