A Firm Grip
I opened my eyes under the studio stage lights. Standing upright on the glossy tabletop, I felt the firmness in my limbs. I was not alone in this row, but I needed to know if I could move. I slowly shifted my right arm downward, testing my control. My soft hand brushed against the cool glass top, nudging slightly closer to the friend standing beside me in white. I pressed my feet down against the smooth wood beneath the glass. I am alive, fully aware, and firmly holding my ground.
