Upside Down in the Spoon
A shiny metal teaspoon was resting bowl-up on the dining room rug. I walked across the floorboards to take a closer look. When I leaned over the hollow scoop, my reflection stared back upside down. I tilted my head to the left, and the little upside-down face tilted too. Curiously, I gripped the thin handle with both hands and turned the spoon over. The rounded back bulged outward like a tiny silver hill. In that smooth dome, my reflection flipped right side up, stretching my nose and glasses into a wide, funny curve. I sat back on my heels, marveling at how a single turn could turn the world around.
