A Garden Teacup

Slipping through the slightly open patio door, I trotted over to the curved stone bench to catch the warm afternoon glow. Resting right near the weathered mortar was a wide ceramic saucer holding a small handful of dried pumpkin seeds and a clean terra-cotta plant label. Leaning my round tummy into the label's smooth wooden stake, I shoved it like a tiny lever! It tumbled across the stone with a light clatter, neatly scooping three pale seeds into the shallow groove of the saucer. I bumped up right beside the ceramic rim to hold them steady, feeling thoroughly pleased with my sunny little backyard gathering station.
