A Scent on the Breeze
A rich, toasty smell of baked crust pulled me right out through the open garden gate and down the brick sidewalk. Trotting eagerly with twitching ear-flaps, I followed the aroma straight to a sunlit dining patio around the corner. Right on a low wooden bench sat an open cardboard box! I clambered up the weathered timber, hooked my front claws firmly onto the cardboard rim, and peered inside. There it was: a golden, cheese-crisped corner sitting right beside a tiny white three-legged plastic stool. My wings gave a flutter, and my tail thumped happily against the wood.
