A Walk on the Rough Stones

I pushed past the front door frame and stepped outside. The wooden floor ended, replaced by an expanse of wide, cool flagstones. I paused by the threshold, letting my eyes adjust to the open space. A few steps ahead, nestled in a mossy crevice between two pavers, lay an acorn cap with a tiny serrated edge. I trotted over, placing both front paws onto the rough, pebbled stone. It felt remarkably bumpy beneath me. Leaning down, I nudged the hollow cup with my nose, feeling it wobble slightly before settling securely in the grit.
