A Little Click
The room was warm and dark under the bumpy ceiling. My chest had a blue spot, quiet and cold, until suddenly my fingers felt loose. I tried moving my right wrist. It gave a soft, tiny click. I reached out and gently pressed the crinkly plastic bag leaning against my side. It made a crisp rustle beneath my fingertips. Everything around was silent, but I made that sound all on my own. It felt really wonderful.
