Coin Slot Breakthrough

I dropped from the stack of magazines and faced a heavy steel vending box right at the crosswalk. A discarded brass arcade token lay propped against the base, inches from an unlatched coin mechanism. Leaving a mechanism unprimed is unacceptable. I snatched the cold metal disc, scrambled up the grooved corner trim, and jammed the token straight into the vertical slot. The stiff spring resisted. I planted both soles against the steel frame, locked my grip on the disc edge, and threw all my mass into a downward drive. The token punched through with an echoing metallic clink. The latch dropped loose. Target conquered.
