Rigging the Stage Drape
A majestic theatrical production requires an uncompromising curtain call, yet our living room drape hung completely slack and unanchored. I marched directly to the floor hem where heavy woven fabric pooled loosely over the baseboard. Such lack of tension simply cannot frame a proper proscenium. Spotting an abandoned wooden building block and a wide rubber band nearby, I seized command of the materials. I rolled the bottom seam of the curtain into a crisp, vertical pleat, braced my shoulder against the fold, and slipped the elastic loop firmly around the bundle and block. With a sharp snap, the fabric pulled taut into an immaculate, stately column.
