Securing the Ascent
I set out to survey the terrain beside the study desk. A dense olive canvas rucksack was resting against the wooden chair leg. The fabric ridges offered reliable footholds. Halfway up the side flap, I encountered a heavy brass cinch buckle. The metal was cool, slightly tarnished, but the teeth held the webbing strap with zero slip. I tested the load on the lower loop and mapped three secure steps across the stitched seam. From this ledge, the room looks completely different. It makes a dependable observation post.
