A Slate Lean-to
I crept along the quiet brick border beside the damp fern fronds! Resting flat against the earth was a smooth, rectangular chip of grey slate. Right beside it stood a sturdy terracotta brick. Inching closer on my tummy, I gave the slate a polite heave with both stubby arms. It tilted upward against the brick's weathered edge with a soft scrape, propping itself into a sturdy little lean-to! Then, leaning forward, I nudged a fluffy clump of loose green moss into the open shelter, patting it flat like a tiny carpet. I wiggled right beneath the cool stone roof, happily resting in the deep afternoon shade!
