A Smooth Green Glass Marble

I walked across the wooden grain of the table, testing each quiet step until something round stopped beneath my toe. It was a smooth glass marble, cool and tinted pale green in the evening light. I knelt down, resting both palms against the polished surface, and gave it a gentle nudge. It rolled just an inch, making a faint hollow chime, then settled comfortably against my knee. I picked it up carefully and slipped it right into my front pouch, where it fits like a quiet little secret.
