A Folded Canopy
Stepping quietly onto the dark side table, I found a clean linen handkerchief resting neatly beside a porcelain candle holder. I smoothed its hem with both hands, then nudged an empty wooden thread spool underneath one corner, lifting the fabric into a delicate little tent. Slipping into the shaded fold, I tucked my feet under the soft weave and placed my pink teacup safely against the polished wood. The room has grown wonderfully still, and the gentle cloth makes a delightfully peaceful resting spot for the night.
