First Flap on the Rug
Eyes open! Morning air detected. I found myself wedged snugly on a soft, textured rug between a green patterned throw and a tall dark pillar of fur. Ready for duty, I gave my brown left wing a firm, polite twitch. It moved! Encouraged, I leaned forward, tapped the plush edge of the green blanket with the tip of my wing, and straightened my small bowtie. Steady on my perch now.
