A Snug Glass Paperweight
I waddled back indoors as the evening grew dark and quiet, leaving the garden breeze behind. My feet were feeling quite tired, so I made my way toward the bottom shelf of the tall wooden bookcase. Tucked in the quiet shadow beside a thick stack of books, a heavy glass paperweight shaped like a smooth, clear dome was resting on a folded wool scarf. I shuffled over and leaned my tummy gently against the rounded glass. It was so delightfully cold and firm. With a tiny, polite push of my flipper, I snuggled deep into the soft fringe of the wool, resting my chin against the cool glass sphere to watch the quiet night settle in.
