Night Watch Beside the Nook ep 37
My rope toes gripped the cool pine trim as the living room sank into deep evening quiet. Tucked beside my postcard stack, a polished metal paperclip caught the distant amber glow of a streetlamp through the curtains. I paused three paces back, cocking my head left, then right, checking if the curve would twitch. It stayed dead still. Stepping close, I gave the rounded loop a firm nudge with my beak. It slid with a faint metallic scrape, settling right across the stamp and feather to hold my daytime treasures snug against the draft. I tucked my beak close, cooing softly into the night.
