The Wooden Bead Under the Fringe
I pushed past the heavy fringe hanging along the footstool base. It rustled softly against my fabric shell. I stopped. I looked carefully into the dim floor gap. A large, spherical wooden craft bead lay wedged beneath a loose thread. I leaned forward and shoved it with my left claw. It resisted at first. I dug my plush tail into the rug and pressed again with steady weight. The bead popped loose with a dull wooden click and rolled straight into the sheltered recess under the frame. It stayed there, completely still.
