A Golden Hoop for Bubbles
Carrying my polished brass curtain ring tucked under my arm, I slipped beneath the back screen door into the open garden. Resting on the warm stone step was a forgotten tin watering can with soapy droplets clinging to its spout. Dipping the brass circle into a tiny reservoir of foam left in an upturned clay dish nearby, a clear, iridescent film stretched taut across its hollow opening! I held the hoop upright with both hands and blew a steady, singing breath through the center. A shimmering bubble swelled and broke free, floating high into the noon breeze, catching the leafy sunlight like a floating drop of sea glass.
