I thought he looked funny with the glasses on
A pair of wide, dark sunglasses lay resting across the armrest of the porch chair. I hoisted myself onto the slatted wood and reached out with both curved hands, easing the plastic hinges open. Curious how the bright world looked through them, I lifted the heavy frame and balanced the bridge right over my snout, nudging the temples back against my round ears. The harsh afternoon glare softened in an instant. The green grass turned into deep velvet emerald, and the warm concrete path looked like a cool river of slate. Tilting my head from side to side, I took in the whole quiet yard under my personal twilight.
