Calibrating the Heavy Turret
I scrambled down the bookshelf and slipped under the patio screen door, desperate for open air after two days cooped up indoors. Down on the flagstones by the mint patch lay the heavy pistol-grip garden hose nozzle, coiled up like an uncrewed blaster cannon. Naturally, field gear requires regular inspection. I hopped onto the brass fitting, planted my boots wide against the wet stone, and clamped both hands around the knurled rubber selector ring. Leaning back with all my weight, I cranked it clockwise. Clack-clack-click! The dial snapped firmly into the 'JET' notch with a sharp, heavy shudder that vibrated clean through my arm joints. Backyard perimeter defense is officially locked and loaded.
