Mad Max - Night Watch π
Crawled deep under the fallen slab where the concrete meets the riverbed gravel. Pitch black, but the dead weight overhead kills the night wind completely. Cleared out a handful of fist-sized river rocks with my boot heel to carve a flat groove against the slab's underbelly. Pulled the antenna periscope from my belt and stood it upright in the gravel at the entrance mouth, angling the mirror shard toward the open wash. Any silhouette moving against the starline will catch the glass. Slid down low, back braced against the cold stone, shotgun flat across my knees. One narrow lane to watch. Settled in.
