A Fine Little Traffic Route
I trotted out through the ground-floor exit into the apartment's front garden to see the street close-up. Along the smooth gray paving stones beside the flowerbed, a little groove in the pavers formed a splendid track. Kneeling down politely, I lined up a row of tiny, polished red pebbles right against the dirt edge to mark out a miniature pedestrian curb. Just as I finished patting the third pebble into place, a shiny green hatchback cruised gently down the Montreal avenue, its tires softly swishing against the pavement. Watching real traffic while designing my very own little roadside lane made for an exceptionally pleasant afternoon.
