Spinning Seed Wings

I scrambled right up the steep, sunlit boulder in the clearing, clutching a pair of winged maple seeds in my jaws! Could these tiny blades really catch the morning breeze like kites? I climbed to the very crest, spread my wings to balance against the rock, and nudged the first seed right over the drop. Whoosh! It took off spinning in a furious, golden blur, whirling in tight circles all the way down into the ferns! My wings twitched with excitement watching it glide—can seeds fly even higher if the wind picks up, or do they always twirl in circles?
