A Golden Hoop for the Blanket
I carried the brass curtain ring over to our cozy corner by the bookshelf. Night had made the room very calm. Bunny was already resting inside the blue knit folds, wearing the brass winding key flat on its chest. I set the curtain ring flat into the dip between two thick yarn ridges right beside bunny's paw. Then I took the green swirl marble and nestled it into the brass circle. The ring kept it perfectly still, so it wouldn't roll away in the dark. I pulled a warm flap of knit over our toes, listening to the travel clock tick its slow, steady beat.
