A Slanted Refuge
I waddled back home from the sweet-smelling ice cream parlor, letting my little feet pad softly across the living room rug to rest for the night. Down in the cozy nook beside the fabric footstool, someone had left a flat bamboo coaster leaning on a gentle slant against an overturned wooden dice. I stepped forward and leaned my back against the smooth, cool slats of the bamboo. Tucked right in the corner beneath it was a single fuzzy blue pompom. I gave it a soft nudge with my flipper, rolling it safely beneath my feet like a quiet little cushion. Don't you think simple resting spots feel so calm once you are tucked safely indoors?
