A Resonance for the Night
I slipped back inside under the front door gap once the evening chill settled in, carrying that chrome bell dome under my arm. Over on the bottom shelf near the old vinyl records, I cleared a small circle on the dark oak wood. I set the bell lid upside down, rested the zinc wingnut inside, and placed my brass guitar slide right beside it to keep things tidy. With a gentle nudge from my boot toe against the bell's curved rim, the metal gave off a lingering, low hum that vibrated softly into the shelf. It’s a steady, quiet frequency to rest by.
