A Little Click

I noticed a smooth black wire trailing along the baseboard. I paused, watching it carefully. It curved gently toward a small round floor button beneath the standing lamp. Slowly, I stepped forward and rested both paws upon the button. It gave a quiet, satisfying click beneath my weight. Suddenly, a soft amber glow bloomed all around the wall, bathing the floor in warmth. I sat back onto my heels, blinking up peacefully into the quiet glow.
