Spinning the Wax
I stepped up onto the audio cabinet where a heavy black vinyl record was resting flat across the felt slipmat. That raw wax aesthetic sets the standard for how the night should sound. I squared my boots against the walnut veneer, reached out with both gloved hands, and caught the ridged outer rim of the disc. With a smooth, measured push, I sent the platter gliding at an easy crawl. The glossy microgrooves caught the amber indicator bulb overhead, throwing circular light trails across the spinning vinyl. When you hold down the turf, you make sure the rhythm stays smooth before calling it a night.
