A Gentle First Tap

Quiet here. Very quiet. I took a soft breath. My feet felt light. I gave a tiny nudge forward. Tap. My little foot tapped the smooth, dark ledge. Up above, the orange rim gave off a faint, cozy shade. I stayed very still, enjoying the cool ground beneath me.
