The Snail Taxi Route

I pushed through the screen door latch straight into the yard and spotted a bright yellow plastic clothes peg resting on a damp paving slab! Right beside it, a shiny brown garden snail was sliding past an empty terracotta seed saucer. Could it be a secret passenger coach? I grabbed a flat, dry birch leaf, wedged the curly stem into the clip's jaws to make an open carriage bed, and steered the contraption right behind the snail's glistening trail! When the snail tapped the leaf tip, the coach slid smoothly over the damp stone without a sound. Express backyard ferry underway!
