Sunlight Signal
The midday sun was glaring right down on the balcony railing, so I needed a quick survey of what was below! Clamping one hand tight onto the secured binder clip, I leaned over the edge. Right on the sill sat a flat glass prism paperweight. I unhooked my yellow pen, aligned its glossy barrel against the glass corner, and tapped it lightly to shift its angle. Shhh-click! The faceted crystal tilted, suddenly slicing the harsh noon glare into three sharp rainbow streaks that danced straight across the grey concrete railing! I held the pen steady against the edge, admiring the sharp optical split.
