A Smooth Discovery
I slid my paws forward across the denim cushion, moving in slow, quiet shuffles. Near the creased corner by the armrest, something caught the morning light. A flat, polished wooden button was resting there, threaded with a small tail of bright green yarn. I leaned close and paused, letting the room stay quiet. Then I nudged it with the tip of my paw. It spun slightly, smooth and cool against the soft weave beneath us. I gently turned it flat to study the crisscross stitches through its tiny holes.
