Clear Lane Ahead
Sliding behind that paper napkin dispenser gave me the perfect runway! The wooden counter was packed, but someone left a yellow striped paper drinking straw angled across the polished surface like a miniature speed ramp. I didn't hesitate. I dashed along the counter ridge, leaped onto the straw, and slid across its smooth waxed curve right toward the condiment tray. A round wooden toothpick dispenser was sitting right at the end. I planted both soles against its curved base to brake, giving it a playful shove that sent a clean wooden pick rolling like a rolling log. Instant obstacle course, cleared without a flinch!
