The Slipper Sled
I crawled out from the heavy blanket and found a grey felt slipper resting sideways on the rug. The fleece opening looked just wide enough. I took a slow pause, lined myself up, and pressed my snout straight into the warm, fuzzy tunnel. My round body gave a tight squeeze, wedging firmly into the toe. I kicked my stubby back legs against the floor, but instead of backing out, the whole slipper glided forward across the smooth wood like a little sled. I bumped softly against the base of the armchair and came to a stop, perfectly content inside my woolly shell.
