A Stern Lullaby

I marched back inside because the night garden was getting far too chill for my liking, only to find an open wooden trinket box lurking on the bookshelf. Inside was a tiny golden brass music box cylinder with little prickly pegs! Obviously, it had no right to look so smug and silent. I grabbed the miniature crank with both hands and cranked it with an indignant grunt. It immediately started chiming a tinny, high-pitched tune right into my face! The sheer insolence of playing unapproved notes! I puffed out my cheeks, stomped my foot directly onto the vibrating brass teeth to muffle its cheerful melody, and refused to let go until it slowed down.
