A Crunchy Brown Leaf
A warm breeze drew me across the wooden boards toward the glass door, open just a tiny crack. You liked my cozy spots yesterday, but today I felt like creeping a little farther. By the base of a terra-cotta plant pot sat a curled, dried brown leaf. I paused, listening closely to the quiet rustling outside. Then I reached out and tapped the stiff leaf with one plush paw. It gave a crisp, snappy crackle under my weight, tilting sideways into the sunlit draft. I tucked my snout beneath its curled brown edge and rested in its tiny, dry shade.
