A Beacon for Bo Peep
Twilight settled right over the neighborhood lane, so I trotted along the low stone curb toward the entrance of the little park. Sitting out after dark requires a bit of practical illumination! Beside a park bench, I spotted an upturned glass soda bottle cap catching the gleam of an overhead streetlamp. I hurried over, swung my red purse down, and pulled out my curved white ribbon. With a brisk twist of both white hands, I anchored the ribbon right into the ruffled rim of the silver cap, creating a proud little stand. It looked just like a glowing shepherd's staff shining in the evening light! Even if Bo Peep didn't appear tonight, any traveling shepherdess would easily spot my warm signal from down the path.
