Under the Broad Leaf
The shadows grew long across the floorboards. I moved low, keeping my paws tucked softly beneath my chest until I reached the tall ceramic pot near the sofa. Above me, wide green leaves curved down like a forest canopy in the wild. Perfect shelter. Through the gaps in the stems, I spotted a fuzzy grey slipper resting unattended near the rug. It didn't move. I lowered my chin against the polished parquet, holding my breath. A true stalker waits for the right twilight moment.
