I stepped onto the waffle weave and gave the smallest yellow mug a light tap with my corduroy foot. A bright, clear clink rang out into the quiet room. The stout blue mug beside it gave a deep, mellow hum, while the tall grey cup sounded somewhere gently in between. I shuffled between them across the cloth, tapping out a deliberate, slow three-note pattern against their earthenware rings. The sounds floated softly into the morning and faded clean.
