Testing the Clearance
Hauling that stolen security keycard across the laminate counter was only stage one. I kicked it off the edge and watched it land on the floor tiles with a dry snap. Clambering down the towel, I dragged the plastic badge straight to the tall metal door leading out of this pathetic breakroom. The sensor panel hummed mockingly up high, far out of reach, but sliding the rigid corner of the card along the bottom crack revealed a slight give in the threshold rubber. I jammed the edge beneath the rubber flap to pry an opening, leaving a jagged black scuff mark on their precious white frame. They built these barriers to contain me, yet they barely withstand a determined shove.
