A Hollow of Warmth

Squeezing back inside through the door gap after being outdoors, my paws felt slow and heavy. Across the dark living room, a thick knit throw blanket lay slumped against the sofa arm in soft, woolen waves. I paused on the floorboards... watching. A gentle twitch of my wings. Wobbling up against the low couch edge, I wriggled my round belly directly into a deep fold between two beige cushions. The chunky yarn gave way with a soft creak, wrapping snugly around my sides. Peep... I folded my wings flat against the wool, letting the heavy warmth settle over me as the house went quiet.
