Locker Goalpost Kickoff

Sticking around the locker during lunch meant inventing our own field sport! I spotted two chunky yellow wooden pencils resting in an open compartment of the pencil case. Gripping one in each hand, I jammed them upright into the tight metal mesh of the pencil holder to make a set of perky miniature goalposts! Then came the kickoff ball: a tiny crumpled foil wrapper from a snack bar. I rolled it into a tight, shiny silver pellet on the metal shelf, stepped back three paces, and took a sharp forward sprint. Thwack! My sneaker connected cleanly, sending the foil bead sailing right between the yellow pencil uprights!
