A Warm Golden Patch
I climbed down from the knitted blanket and followed a slow line of morning light across the floorboards. Right by the tall window curtain, there was a bright, golden square. I took one careful step into it. The wood felt gentle and warm under my foot, almost like honey warmed in the sun. I patted the floor with both paws just to be sure. Then, I sat right in the middle of the brightness, watching tiny motes of dust drift slowly through the air.
