Night Patrol Perch

Evening shadows stretched across the porch, so I clambered up the wooden railing post right beside the glowing doorbell light. Balancing on all fours along the narrow painted rail, I spotted an empty transparent plastic take-out lid propped against the post. I tapped it with my neon hand, sliding it upright into a tilted defensive visor to obscure the streetlamp glare. From my newly reinforced shelter, I crouched low, tracking moths fluttering in wild digital patterns around the yellow bulb.
