A Stark Reminder…
…Thanks to a conversation between Stan Lee and Robert Downey Jr. about drug abuse and recovery, Stan Lee, (who had already had this perception much earlier,) believed Downey Jr. was the ideal candidate for the role of Tony Stark. An in depth look into the character who was a struggling billionaire/alcoholic trying to carry himself on his late father’s legacy. Tony Stark was given a second chance to make something of himself upon seeing the atrocities committed by terrorits who were using his tech to kill the innocent. He was determined to fight back and become the Iron Man landing him the trust of the Avenger Initiative and a super hero status. Of course, the man behind the armor was also actor Robert Downey Jr. who up until only a few years prior (at the time) was recovering from substance abuse, a slipping acting career and also living in the shadow of his father’s former fame. Stan Lee was always an amazing story teller, and with the verge of Marvel Comics on the road to becoming an independent movie studio he was inspired to reach out to Downey Jr. and tell him his life was about to change for the better! Working together on set and in conversation they built a magnificent friendship and an enduring movie legacy that help some of the greatest stories of the comic book industry become an entire genre of filmmaking. But, why am I saying all of this for a five second video not many people will even notice? It’s important to me! it’s important, that we, fans, nerds, geeks, comic and entertainment enthusiasts remember how important it is to keep our heads up! Stay strong, be kind, be storytellers, love each other, weather your DC or Marvel, Trek or Wars, manga or trade paperback… whatever! Stan Lee encouraged a whole genre to a man swimming in uncertainty and personal fear. So you, my friend, and you and you too! All have what it takes to do something amazing. Make Nauk Nauks, make people smile, make someone’s day. And never give up! #Excelsior #Marvel #TonyStark
